Making the right choices when deciphering whether to cave in and eat “one last cookie” or “wait until dinner” can be extremely difficult. Why is this such a struggle? We are, often times, unknowingly addicted to food. According to Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal, "carb [carbohydrate] addictions" have grown to become one of the leading causes of obesity in the United States. In my opinion, we are constantly being brainwashed into believing that it is okay to “eat one more.” You often ask yourself, ‘What is the harm in eating a bite now?’ The harm is that over a period of time, your body will grow addicted to what you’re ingesting, which means that you will soon be sucked into this downward spiral of snacking on things that will make you gain weight. One thing that you can do to prevent this from happening is to drink more water. On a daily average, you are supposed to drink half your body weight in ounces. For example, if you weigh 150 lbs., you need to be drinking 75 oz. of water daily. This will help you stop yourself from caving in to your carb-filled cravings.
